Greed is natural. To be greedy for positive things like greed for taking first position in class, to be beloved in the eyes of parents and teachers, to be popular through doing well for others, to be JANNATI by scoring a number of virtues, etc. is appreciable. However to be greedy for trivial worldly things is condemned not only in Islam but also in other societies.
