The students of Dawood Public School comprising of pre-primary to A level students enthusiastically and ardently celebrated their sports day on the 6 of March 2012 in the Memon Family Park Bahadurabad.
The objective of the Sports Day was to build self esteem, discipline, competitive spirit as well as physical skills of the students.
Apart from the efforts of all teachers and other clerical workers of the school, the presence of Younus Khan brought colour to this sports day. The students crowds warm welcomed Sir Younus Khan with round of applause. It continued till he seated in the pavilion with headmistress of A level section, the principal of primary section and Mam Sabrina Dawood.
The house captains of their respective houses Bilquis Edhi, Bapsi Sadwah, Fatima Jinnah and Anita Ghulam Ali house hoisted their house flags during the March pass along with the school flag of Dawood Public School and the National Flag of Pakistan.
Later on after the March pass everybody along with Sir Younus Khan stood to recite national anthem with full zeal and enthusiasm.
After wards the events of the sports day started to draw closer. The main event of the sports day was the cricket match among the students of red and blue house. It began shortly after the national anthem. Students of the cricket match who were seated in the pavilion were called for an oath taking ceremony before the start of the match. The oath wording stated that both of the team players would be fair and just to each other and their opponents and will solemnly act upon the orders of their team captain.
After the oath taking ceremony the toss was held. Blue house won the toss and decided to ball first. It was partially a good decision because it looked as if the blue house bowlers were lucky even though they did not practice much for this match. One after the other the players of the red house were out. The blue team was given a target of 28 runs that seemed just a piece of cake. But at the start of the second innings luck did not side with the members of the blue house. The first batsman was caught out on the first ball. Than it seemed as if it was very difficult to chase the target and reach to a score in double figure. The good batsmen of blue house were all out on their first ball. But either of the two houses had to win. So it was the red house that won by three runs and celebrated their victory by taking a round of the whole ground with the awe-inspiring trophy.
Other events also sided with the cricket match. There had been skits, hosting of the balloon banner by the A level girls etc. Sir Younus Khan left early but promised to com again at our sports day for the whole time. That’s why during his presence one of the trophies was awarded to the winning O level throw ball team and medals were awarded to winners and the runner-up of A level team.
Sir Younus Khan was also gave autograph and had group photos with the students in the audience and the cricket team as well.
The sports day of 2012 celebrated by students of Dawood Public School was marvellous and spectacular in which not only the teachers, students enjoyed but the parents also had a great time.
