It was a small village surrounded by mountains where Asad and Arif lived. Near the village, a river flew, that's why most of the people were concerned with farming. However, some did shopkeeping etc.
Asad and Arif were illustrious friends of the village. They both were neighbours as well as class fellow. Asad's father was an only shopkeeper of the village. On other hand Arif's father was a poor farmer and did farming on the land of Landlord of the village. Asad and Arif both were remarkable in studies. They passed Metric Examinations with flying colours and wanted to continue their studies. Asad went to the city to learn more education but Arif's family condition did not allow him to learn further, so he started farming with his father to support his family.
When Asad went to the city he was shocked with the living conditions of citizens but gradually he settled down. He continuously wrote letters to Arif. Arif on the other side also wrote letters to his dearest friend. After Completion of studies, Asad started job in a Government Office, but didn’t stop writing to his friend. After some time, Arif stopped giving reply to the letters of Asad. Asad got tensed but he couldn’t do anything.
1 year later, Asad got a week's holiday. He went straight to his village and went to the farm of Arif where he worked. He saw everything was barren. He thought it very strange. Then he decided to go the Arif's house. When he reached there, he saw all the lights were shut and nobody was in the street. He knocked the door. No reply came. When he knocked so many times, a fearful voice came from inside," Who are you?"
He identified that it was his friend Arif who asked. He replied," Arif! It’s me. Asad". Arif suddenly opened the door and pull Asad in and rapidly closed the door. Asad got puzzled and asked, "What happened? Why are you so scared?"
The Arif told the whole story that since a year; some robbers have made our self much agony. The day by day attacked someone’s house and extorts all the money and jewelleries and we could not do anything.
Asad realized that it is a real tragedy. He went to the city and talked with some senior police officers who took it serious and send a group of policemen with him. Policemen made a strategy to catch these robbers.
After two days, robbers attacked on Arif's house accidentally. Policemen were alert and tried to catch them without any confrontation but robbers started firing on policemen. A great conflict broke down. Both sides were fully equipped with guns but the policemen were more skilled than the robbers. After the battle of 2 hours, the robbers lose their one man who was perhaps their Leader so they decided to surrender. Policemen took them to the Central Jail of the city and the village was once again peaceful just because of an "Educated Person" (Asad). The villagers didn’t know what to do or what not to do because they were uneducated but Asad knew what to do at any tensed situation because he had education, he knew how to get rid of problems just because of education. That's why Our Holy Prophet (S.A.W) laid so much stress on education and once He (S.A.W) said," A believer is never satiated with gainful knowledge. He goes on acquiring it till his death and entry into Paradise". (Tirmidhi) Abdullah ibn Abbas (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Acquiring knowledge in company for an hour in the night is better than spending the whole night in prayer.” (Tirmidhi 256)
