It was a bright, sunny morning. As Sophia woke up, she remembered that it was her birthday today. She was mad with delight and ran down the stairs hardly touching them. She was so much excited that she was just about to trip. Sophia went to the kitchen and saw her mom cooking food. She thought it was for her birthday but it turned out to be simple curry and rice. She was shocked to death and asked her mom that today was something special. She answered back with a NO!!! Sophia went to her dad who was in the lounge reading the newspaper. When she asked him the same question, his answer was also NO!!! She went to her sisters, her cousins and everyone in the family. Yet everyone's answer was NO!!! The bright smile vanished from her face and a sad expression appeared. She went upstairs and found a note which said that 'meet us in the garden at 2:00 pm sharp'. Sophia saw the clock, it was showing 2:50. She got dressed in her new, pretty frock and went downstairs.                                         As soon as she opened the garden door there was a shout of "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" and she was delighted. The sad expression turned to a grin. She was a little angry but then she had to admit it was a brilliant surprise. She enjoyed a lot and had loads of fun.
