I made up my mind to get employed in a well-known company after my graduation, which would accept me to work for them on basis of my merit. I knew that it would be difficult because of our corrupt society, but I hate being accepted through recommendation.
Saad, one of my class mates, had the same ambition as mine. He had been studying with me since college and university. We were of entirely different natures. He always thought that winning, either through cheating or any other illegal means was very important for life, as well as for one's reputation. On the contrary, my values were that if we win from cheating it gives us nothing and no means of success.  I believe that if we play with our mind and soul and with true spirit we would not only succeed, but would have a vital chance to prove ourselves afterwards.
Through whole of my college and university life, I studied with full zeal and enthusiasm. I avoided availing success through illegal means. Although, Saad also stood at the same position that I had achieved through my efforts he had rather achieved it more by good fortune than any of his skills. Many at times, dishonest happenings at college and university were typical of him. He would be found cheating in exams and got caught red-handed several times. Who cares! He was his teachers’ despair.
Now, he was in a competition with me again. He wanted to defeat me even at this stage, where I was standing after following the path of gaining immense knowledge and experience, but our society serves people like me nowhere. I was rejected by the company I had applied. It was Saad, who was taken in through recommendation, but I still did not lose hope. I was reduced to tears, yet was adamant upon not compromising my values. Soon, after a few days, one of the companies abroad took me as an employee on the basis of my merit. I now firmly believe that it does not matter if we win or lose its how we play the game!!!
