Rank 5 Out of 10
I am walking alone in Baghdad

And am terrified of the dark

I often hear fires from a gun,

I think I better run,

Nobody to stay with me,

Nobody to play with me,

Where is my mother?

I want to hug her,

I want to tell her that i am hungry,

She'll make me something to eat

Mummy, you can see I am crying,

I am terrified of all this killing and dying.

I see faces with tears,

This covers me with horrible fear

Every now and then I see,

Burning houses, buildings and trees,

They make air smoky,

Oh, i do pray that these people just go away

Who kill people in name of justice

Who don't care for beauty and bliss

I know that this is everyone's wish

To let peace and unity flourish.

How I long to play with you

With balls of sand and clay

How I long to catch butterflies with you

And to run around the garden every sunrise

Mummy, who will give us back our smiles?

Please , take away our tears

And make this horrible war end.........
