On the day of Eid there sat a boy in his room, Hamid. His parents had passed away and he lived with his grandmother. She allowed him to go to the prayer ground (eidgaah), so he along with his friends went there. After prayer his friends sat on rides, ate sweets and bought toys while Hamid who did not have enough money just stood there watching. On the way back, he saw a kitchen utensils shop so he bought a kitchen tong (chimta). His friends made fun of him, but the thought of his grandmother burning her fingers while making roti made him stronger. All his friends broke their toys one by one but Hamid's tong was very useful and helped his grandmother a lot. An Urdu story by : Munshi Premchand Translated by : Asjal Rashidi
