Rank 5 Out of 10
I liked being a baby a lot better,
Not having to bother with words
I remember opening my mouth,
And sounds flying out like strange birds.
The comfort of talcum powder
Not having the trouble myself;
Or reading or doing sums.
I just sat, fat and everything was done.
I was fed, by two comfy pillows,
Or later, the spoon on which I even got to throw
My food on the floor, smash egg from the fridge.
I'll never get away with all these things.
Now I'm thirteen
I've got to do things I hate,
Like making my own bed.
When I was a baby nobody would have thought of
Asking me to make my breakfast, or to clean my room
But all that's things of the past.
When I'll be eighteen, will I be wishing I was stuck at top
Of the climbing frame,
I will just have to accept it
When children grow up,
Things change.
