Tikal got up from her bed and went off to brush her teeth. The eggs had gone bad and the milk had turned sour. So without having anything in breakfast, she rushed out of the door. “Argh today was strike, I forgot that”, she was totally out of her wits, placed her comb instead of her pouch in her bag “Oh dear! I would be late” she mumbled with fear. Road was empty. Tikal hailed a Tonga as she saw it which was luckily heading towards her destiny. She sat in there on the seat comfortably and opened her bag to see her pouch, but instead she saw her comb, “Oh God, How stupid I am!” After sometime she reached at her school portal “What a fortune! Reached on sharp 9, exactly on time”. She went in with anxiety. Her fellow girls were scooting to the hall. She joined them moving punctually. Suddenly, Susie Salmon after her fell long head who is of course a short tempered class. “I didn’t do anything”, she mumbled. Susie thought that Tikal pushed her and began to make ignominy of her in the public. While that Emily looked pleased and proud, Tikal thought that she might be glad at her speech which she had written from internet. Tikal pocketed her insult as a proactive good girl and was no match for her. She planned to tell Susie later peacefully about her nasty fall. The comparer started the competition with name of Allah and great quotes. One after another girl went for their speeches on the stage. “Oh boring speeches!” Tikal whispered to Kate but, she was continuously thinking about the insult and was feeling blue. She thought that this ignominy would become the talk of school and that’s why she was worried as well. There was pin drop silence in the hall. At last, speeches ended, the principal addressed and the hall resounded with the cheers. Girls were going to home and Tikal was searching for Susie. “Thank goodness, she’s standing there”. She went and opened her heart to Susie. But she turned deaf ear towards her words and roared, “Get Lost”. She was still trying to make her clear but from words Susie came to blows. Then she left her way brashly. Strike was called off and got to home with no difficulty. But couldn’t eat to her fill and was still feeling horrific by her insult. “She should have trusted and listen to me” She murmured. Well the day passed and had not wink of sleep in the panic night. She glanced over her cell phone. “New Message at 7:15 am! Who could that be?” She asked to herself. Oh her best friend, Kate sent her a text message written, “That was a big plan by somebody to make you feel embarrass but don’t know who is that. Well I will do effort to find your criminal, now feel good and get a sip of coffee”. Well she looks upon Tikal as her sister and is a girl of word. So she felt much better and acted on her advice. At the Eve, Tikal was thinking of Emily, because she always opposed her tooth and nail. Suddenly, cell phone rang and she picked up, “Hey Tik, you know that was Cosmo, I saw through her plan. I heard her thanking in the library to her friend for pushing Susie” Kate said. “Oh Blimey, I was suspicion about Emily but its Cosmo, I can’t believe that” Tikal replied with flabbergast. She said, “Aww, Emily? She always opposed you in competitions not like Cosmo. I think she is a good girl” “Umm, Your right. She is a good girl” I replied. This news made her hair stand on end. She thought of her favours upon Cosmo and felt like she had wasted on her. Next day, Tikal hastily went to Cosmo to ask purpose for doing that. She didn’t call the cab or anything and just walked and walked and got out of her breath. And like after 30 minutes, she reached her home “Cosmo!!! What have you done? How many times I favored upon you? You would never remember that but I do.” She exploded over her “I gave you my favourite pen and I gave you my seat near the window that you never asked for that. You are selfish” and BLAH, BLAH. When she finished, Cosmo asked gently, “Can I speak now?” “Yes, Yes Why not? What has left with you to talk or you want to apologize?” Tikal screamed. Cosmo said politely, “Well, you favored upon me that’s true but by your own self. I never asked you for your favorite pen or seat near window. And no doubt, you always demanded for the return. I would give you the return by myself. But you indirectly tried to make me realize of your favors, Didn’t you?” Tikal kept on listening and was standing there stunned and motionless in front of her. “That’s why I became disheartened and on that day I was really angry at your attitude. I asked my friend to do that but now feeling regretful. I shouldn’t have done this to you. Sorry!” She bobbed with rheumy eyes. Tears trickled down on Tikal’s face and sobbed, “No, I should be sorry to you. I really did a great mistake. I liked to help always but forgot that to forget the favors given. I’m so sorry Cosmo. You have taught me the lesson! I’m sorry” Cosmo hugged her and forgave her. Next day Cosmo went along with Tikal to Susie’s home. Tikal didn’t know about that. Cosmo had told her that they are going for lunch. When they reached at Susie’s home, Tikal asked, “Cos, Why are we here?” Cosmo didn’t reply and scooted directly to Susie. Susie greeted Cosmo joyously but she gazed at Tikal with baleful eyes. “Hey Susie, I really want to apologize” Cosmo said and turned her head to the blue shining floor. Susie asked curiously, “Umm apologize for what Cosmo?” “First promise me, you won’t be outraged” Cosmo said. “Okay, Okay my dearest friend. I won’t get angry on you, Promise!” Susie said gently. “Well you had been dropped in a great fallacy that Tikal had pushed you. But she wasn’t that! I was the one whose planning was that. Please pardon me”. And she knelt before her. Tikal suddenly said, “Please forgive her”. Susie raised her and said, “I’m proud of your courage, you spoke truth! You are my bravest, truthful and trustworthy friend” They all later lived, ate, played, studied, and helped together. Most importantly, they never demanded for their favours given to each other or anybody else. That’s how a friendship or relationship lasts forever. |
