Once upon a time there lived one poor family contemporary to the Prophet Moses (A.S). The head of the family was in forties and was much worried about his meager earning and therefore, the entire family had never been able to take a square meal for years.
After knowing that Prophet Moses (A.S) had been talking to Allah Almighty from Mount Toor, he came to him and requested to seek him the answer, whether his family would ever be able to get square meals. He was later told that since his destiny, only less food is available, therefore, they would have to eat it in bits and pieces, otherwise will be consumed soon. Upon listening to this, the man requested Prophet Moses (A.S) to request Allah Almighty, to bless him with what so ever is available as food for his family, so at least they can have full stomach for one or two time, which Prophet did so.
Few years later when Prophet Moses (A.S) was passing by that area where that man used to live, he was thinking that as his entire food was bestowed by Allah Almighty, therefore, he and his entire family must have perished. However, to his utter surprise, Prophet Moses (A.S) saw a long lane of beggars and poor on the gate of a mansion built at the place where that man used to live in a cottage. Full of surprise, Prophet Moses (A.S) went to see that owner of the mansion and found that same poor man, who had requested him a couple of years ago to ask Allah Almighty to bestow his entire food once for all, so that they could have few square meals. The man was jubilated to see Prophet Moses (A.S) and told him that after he had got his entire destiny food together, he and his family ate to their content and afterwards, since the food left out was too much for them, therefore, he decided to donate the same to other poor. “That day and till now that what we give away comes back multiplied many times”, the owner of the mansion told Prophet Moses (A.S). Prophet Moses (A.S) congratulated him on his piety and good deed and left for his place.
Allah Almighty says that what we give in donation is accepted as good deed as well as returned back multiplied many times, both in this world as well as in the life hereafter, therefore, let us promote the habit of donating and helping the needy one.
