“Grandma is unwell”,
Uncle called us to tell
At the earliest we reached there
I could sense anxiety in the air
Grim expressions on mom’s face
I tried to search for words of solace
Near and dear ones phoned with their suggestions
Bringing to my mind a lot many questions
What could it be?
Nobody would tell me
Yet eventually I came to see
That prayer is perhaps the only key
After listening to what the doctors had to say
Our hearts could only pray
Expressions changed from disbelief to deep dismay
As her struggle was with an ever growing monster on the way
The dreaded disease could be diagnosed in an advanced stage
Our tears overflowed as if from a broken barrage
I had always seen her as a picture of strength
To make me merry she would go to any length
From singing lullabies to playing with me and my buddies
She also helped me with my studies
But despite all the endeavor
None of the attempt could become a savior
Everybody saddened
Voices dampened
“Oh God, tell me why”
But Grandma was all set to bid us goodbye
My Grandma ever so sanguine and beautiful
I must say she led a life so purposeful.
