Lisa sat near the window with a bunch of papers in front of her as the sunlight shone on her beautiful face. She gazed outside with her deep blue eyes and opened the window. She looked at the ground and saw some butterflies flying as a breeze made her long brown hair come over her face. She flipped them back as she heard something she had never heard before, her mother’s scream…
Lisa ran down to check what had happened. She went to her mother as she saw her horrified face and asked” What happen mama? Are you okay?” Her mother quietly moved to the window and pointed towards a large tornado coming right towards them. She could see it tear down houses in its way. Lisa ran to her younger brother and sister’s room. Her sister Emma was 4 and her brother, Jason was 8. Lisa pulled both of them and quickly took them to the cellar. Her mother also came there and locked the cellar. Lisa held Jason while her mother held Emma. They all held hands as they waited for the tornado to hit their house. Then they heard a roar and in about 5 seconds they could feel the fast winds of the tornado. Lisa pulled Jason towards herself as the tornado tried to take him away. The tornado Lasted for about 10 seconds but it seemed like an hour. Everyone went outside except for Lisa who went to her room to get some snacks as the kitchen was totally ruined. The moment she stepped into her room some parts of the ceiling fell on her and then everything went black…
10 minutes later Lisa woke up and felt a rock pressing her left leg. She struggled to get out but she could not see a thing. Lisa’s mother tried to find her but could not find her. She thought her daughter might be in the kitchen. So she tried to remove the ceiling parts but could not raise them while on the other hand her daughter struggled to get out. Lisa could see her whole life flashing in front of her eyes. Every movement she made increased her pain. Each passing second took her closer to death. The whole day passed and it was night. Lisa’s mother had lost all hope but still tried to pick up the parts. While Lisa struggled to come out. Lisa did not sleep that night nor did her mother. Lisa’s siblings were at their aunt’s place when Jason remembered that Lisa told that she was going to her room. In the morning he called his mother and told everything. Her mother went to Lisa’s room and tried picking up some parts of the ceiling. By now, Lisa was exhausted but hadn’t stopped trying. Her mother saw some pieces moving and picked them up. A ray of sunlight came in like a ray of hope after hours of misery and darkness as she saw her mother. They both smiled. Lisa’s mother freed her and gave her a big hug. Lisa was urgently taken to a hospital. She had two broken bones in her leg and one in her foot. She soon recovered and was discharged. Her courageous story was published in a newspaper. And then she spent her life happily but she could never forget those dark and painful hours.
