Courtesy means excellence of manners or polite behaviour. It, of course, springs from good breeding and kindness of heart. A courteous man is pleasant and polite to everybody. He observes good manners on all occasions and always respects the feelings of others. When we meet we greet one another saying "ASALAM-O-ALAIKUM". It’s a kind of wish, prayer for mutual happiness, peace and security. The Holy Qur'an lays stress on this form of greeting in "SURAH AL-NOOR"(VERSE#29). There is a very famous proverb: "COURTESY COSTS NOTHING" Courtesy demands you make no attempt to jump the queue (line) or to disturb the people sitting in Saafs in Mosques. In a crowded bus, if you are physically fit, give up your seat to an elderly person or to someone who is blind, disable or sick. Just two words "THANK YOU" can make a wonder in your life. They will definitely heighten your personality in the sight of others as the most courteous and well mannered individual. Our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was also renowned for his courtesy and generosity. Being a Muslim, it is our duty to follow the Sunnah and the Teachings of Islam. In short, "GOD LOVES THOSE WHO LOVES HIS FELLOW MEN" Means if you want to seek Allah's will, be courteous!
