The question arises ‘Should Muslims celebrate Valentine’ Day or not?
To celebrate Valentine’s Day is a sin and American came up with this event to mess with us. They are trying to take Muslims away from their faith by showing us such celebrations.
Perhaps these ideas are encouraged to arouse anger among the youth or to make those celebrating this day feel guilty. But my heart skips a beat every time an educated and seemingly enlightened individual belonging to religion Islam says ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’
We reject other cultures and new rituals because we have had a paranoid fear of everything that is foreign. Muslims, especially in Pakistan, have become habitually intolerant and blinded when it comes down to the real message of our religion.
Is that the kind of Islam that Muslims want to represent?
We can redefine the meaning of modern cultural trends that clash with more Islam’s modest ideologies without rejecting them. Instead of closing doors, we should work on welcoming modern traditions with open minds.
If we approach the holiday as a celebration Valentine’s Day should be just another excuse to spread the love that Islam encourages. And this doesn’t mean that you need a significant other to celebrate love; you can express your love to your family, find an excuse to send flowers to your friends, do something fun at your school or make a difference for your country.
So use this day to do something good and religious...As Allah says, ‘There shall be an excruciating punishment in this world and in the Akhirat for those who love immorality to spread among the Mumineen. Allah knows and you do not know (therefore you should abstain from everything that Allah forbids without question) Surah 24/Ayat 19.
And avoid doing things that calls for Allah’s punishment. Have fear of Day of Judgement as Allah says, ‘you will not find people who believe in Allah and the Last Day befriending those who oppose Allah and His Prophet (Peace be upon him) even though they are their fathers, their sons, their brothers or their families. These are the people in whose hearts Allah has written shall enter to heaven beneath which rivers flows where they shall live forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. They are the group of Allah. Behold! The group of Allah shall be the only successful ones.’ Surah 58/Ayat 22
