In the modern times, newspapers have become a necessity. They bring us news from every corner of the world. Newspapers cater to the needs of various sections of the society. A businessman comes to know the mood and trends of the market. A job-seeker can look for a suitable job through ‘Situations Vacant’ columns. Through newspapers, a politician can come to know about the views and reviews of others on the policy adopted by the government or a political party. A sports lover can get information about his favourite game being played in part of the earth. A movie-fan comes to know about movies of his choice. Newspapers provide weather forecasts too. All information needed is contained in newspapers. Newspapers also mould public opinion and act as a watchdog of the policies of the government. They provide an effective link between the government and the public. Important announcements of government policies are made through newspapers. Thus, newspapers serve as a vital link.
