Mail armour
Mail armour
Mail or chain mail is a type of armour consisting of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. It is believed to have been invented by the Gallic people in Eastern Europe about 500 BC. When these Gauls moved West they took mail with them. Most cultures that used mail used the Gallic word Byrne or a variant, suggesting the Gauls as the originators.
